After the passing of the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act on December 27, 2020, R-410A and other HFC refrigerants will be officially phased out in the near future. This is nothing new, but now there's officially a timeline the EPA is going to enforce.
Starting January 1, 2021, 410 A will be phased down by 10%. Will this affect pricing?
The AIM Act, which was included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, directs EPA to phase down production and consumption of HFCs in the United States by 85 percent over the next 15 years. A global HFC phasedown is expected to avoid up to 0.5° Celsius of global warming by 2100.
